Fire-resistant mortar is composed of fire-resistant powder, binder and additives in a certain particle ratio. It is mixed with water or liquid binder to form a paste. Fire-resistant mud can be made into powder form, with the minimum particle size being less than 1mm, and some even less than 0.5mm. Fire-resistant mud has high sealing performance and high corrosion resistance. Depending on the composition, it can be classified as clay mortar, high-alumina mortar, silica mortar, magnesia sand mortar, etc.
Advantages of refractory mortar
High bonding strength
When used, water-based refractory mortar can form a firm bond between refractory bricks or refractory materials, thereby creating a sturdy and durable structure. It can enhance the overall stability and load-bearing capacity of the refractory lining, ensuring the integrity of the installation.
High sealing performance
High sealing performance means that the mortar can form a tight structure between refractory bricks or joints, preventing the leakage of gases or liquids. This sealing performance is crucial for applications that require the containment of combustion gases, molten metals, or other substances.
Outstanding slag erosion resistance
The refractory mortar has outstanding resistance to slag erosion. Slag is the residue formed during metal smelting or combustion at high temperatures. The slag resistance of the mortar ensures the service life and effectiveness of the refractory lining in such environments.
Good anti-spalling property
The refractory mortar has excellent thermal spalling resistance. Even when repeatedly heated and cooled in a high-temperature furnace, the refractory mortar can prevent the refractory bricks or the refractory surface from peeling off or delaminating. This characteristic is crucial for maintaining the integrity and stability of the refractory lining over the long term.
Application of refractory mortar
Metallurgical industry
Refractory mortar is used in the metallurgical industry, including the production of aluminum, copper and zinc. It is used as the inner lining of smelting furnaces, converters and other equipment that can withstand high temperatures and corrosive conditions.
Incinerators and waste management
Refractory mortar is used as the lining material in the combustion chambers and flue systems of incinerators and waste management facilities. It has heat insulation properties and can resist the corrosive effects of combustion gases and ashes.
Power generation
Fire-resistant mortar is used in boilers, incinerators and other combustion equipment in power plants. It has heat insulation properties and can withstand the high temperatures and corrosive gases generated during power generation.
Casting industry
Refractory mortar is used as the inner lining for crucibles, molds and other equipment in the casting factory for metal casting processes. It has the properties of heat insulation, resistance to molten metals and slag.
